The Association was founded by the late Cliff Britton in 2002.

The Association had 6 clubs playing in the league, and they were based at Oxford, Gloucester, Swindon, Portsmouth, Reading and Brighton with 30+ members.

After 2002 Swindon merged with Gloucester, while West Country, Bournemouth, South-27(Portsmouth), Oxon in the West League Zone & Farnborough merged with Reading, and Brighton, Luton, Luton Outsiders, Kent, West Ham A & B became the East League Zones.

Sadly Cliff died unexpectedly in December 2004 but the Association has been going from strength to strength, in his memory.

The Association is expanding with more than 80+ members and we expect our member numbers to get larger each year, and now has 12 clubs, 12 of which are in the two leagues; West and East League Zones. Which hold many different competitions/tournaments annually (www.southdeafgolf.co.uk).

After 2014, We were nicely surprised to find there are more teams for League Matchplay. This Season we will have 14 clubs, last season there were 11 clubs; SDGA is expanding well. We’re absolutely delighted to announce we have broken the record our 100 member’s barrier now we stand 109 members that’s best ever we had.

The members come from all over the South Area of England and we enjoy a family type atmosphere, where we all get together and have fun.
